The Illinois PTA Scholarship is now available. This is for students entering the field of education or an education related degree. First place is valued at $3000 and 2nd place is $2000. You must have a 3.0 GPA. The deadline is Feb. 14th. See below for more information. Apply at www.illinoispta.org.
The IL AMVETS Scholarship program is now available. There are several different $1000 options. They are due March 1st. The different options are: IL AMVETS Trade School - must be going into a pre-approved trade school program; IL AMVETS Foundation Scholarship; IL AMVETS Sad Sacks Nursing Scholarship - available to seniors accepted into pre-approved nursing programs; IL AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Memorial Scholarship - to a child/grandchild of a veteran who service after Sept. 15, 1940 and was honorably discharged or is still serving; IL AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Worchild Scholarship - to a child of a deceased parent who was a veteran who served after Sept. 15, 1040 and was honorable discharged. The Burger King Scholars Program is now available. Up to $50,000 in scholarship awards will be given. You must have at least a 2.5 GPA. The due date is January 10th. Apply at www.bkmclamorefoundation.org/WhatWeDo/ScholarsProgram or for more information, click on the attachment below.
The "Profile in Courage" Essay Contest is now open to all students. The essay is a maximum of 1000 words and must describe a political act of courage by a US elected official during or after 1956. This can be at the local, state, or national level. You must have a minimum of 5 sources and a nominating teacher. The deadline is January 6th. The 1st place award is valued at $10,000. The GE-Reagan scholarship is now available. It is for college bound students who show strong leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. It is valued at $10,000. Visit www.reaganfoundation.org/scholarships for eligibility requirements and the online application. It is due January 9th.
The La Vern and Nola McEntire Lineworker's Scholarship is now available. It is for students who are enrolled in lineworker's school through Lincoln Land College. It is valued at $1,500.00. The application is due on April 30, 2014. Applications can be obtained from http://www.eiec.org/community/scholarships/. The Illinois Electric Coop is once again giving out scholarships to students whose parents are members of an Illinois Electric Coop such as Clinton Co Electric, TriCounty Electric and Southwestern Electric. The scholarships are valued at $1,500.00 each. Must be full time college student in 2014. Must attend an accredited 2-year, 4-year or vocational/technical school in the U.S. GPA, test scores, work/volunteer and school/community participation will be considered. Applications due Dec 31 and can be obtained from http://www.eiec.org/community/scholarships/ (please note this is during Christmas break-If you need something from school such as a transcript, make sure you get it before you leave for Christmas break).
The Illinois Odd Fellow and Rebekahs have released their scholarship application for this year. You must be a US citizen, and Illinois resident, have a C average, and show financial need. Applications are due March 1st. For more information, see below for the attachment.
The AXA scholarship is now available. It is for seniors who show ambition and drive, show determination to set and reach goals, show respect for self, family and community and have the ability to succeed in college. Applicants must also be strong academic students. Deadline December 15. For more information go to: www.scholarshipamerica.org/axa-achievement
The 1st National Bank in Carlyle is participating in the 2014 CBAI Foundation Community Banking Scholarship Program. This scholarship is for high school seniors. It is valued at $1000 a year for up to 4 years. 12 additional $1000 awards and 14 $500 awards will also be given. You must write an essay on the theme "The Importance of Community Banking". This is due January 15th to 1st National Bank in Carlyle. Check below for guidelines, checklist, and application.
The Abbott and Fenner Scholarship is now available. This is a $1000 scholarship that is due June 14th. You must write a 500-1000 word essay. Essay submissions should be sent to email@example.com and should include your full name and mailing address. More information is below.

The Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarships are now available. Applications will be judged on Scholarship, Leadership and financial need. It is recommended that applying students have a 27 or higher ACT Score and a strong GPA. Applications must be completed on line but a printed copy must be submitted to the local Elks lodge in Centralia by 6:00 pm on Dec 6, 2013. Students can apply at www.elks.org/enf/scholars.
