Elks National foundation Scholarship for Elks Families
Legacy Award.  $4,000.00.  Must be a child or grandchild of a dues paying Elks member.

Profile in Courage Essay Contest
Up to $10,000.  Requirements:  The contest deadline is January 17, 2020 at 11:59 PM (EST). Essays can be no more than 1,000 words but must be a minimum of 700 words. Citations and bibliography are not included in the word count.
Essays must be the original work of the student.
John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Edward M. Kennedy are not eligible subjects for essays.
Essays must describe an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917, the year John F. Kennedy was born. The official may have addressed an issue at the local, state, or national level. See Contest Topic and Information and Helpful Tips for Writing Your Essay for more information.  Essays about past recipients of the Profile in Courage Award will be disqualified unless they describe an act of political courage other than the act for which the award was given.  Essays about the senators in Profiles in Courage will be disqualified.  Essays must have a minimum of five sources.  Click here for more information.
 
Coca-Cola Scholarship
Value: up to $20,000.  The application deadline is 5 pm est on Thursday, October 31.  Website to Apply: https://www.coca-colascholarsfoundation.org/apply/.  The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.
 
Prudential Spirit of Community Awards

Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship
Scholarship will be judged on Scholarship, Leadership and Financial Need.  Applications must be submitted online.  Scholarships awarded from $4,000 to 50,000

Acorn Equality Fund
Type: State
Amount: $1,000 to $4,000, with up to $35,000 being awarded.  Qualifications: The Acorn Equality Fund provides academic scholarships to LGBT persons and allies in Illinois’ downstate counties. Must be planning to attend any accredited, post-secondary educational institution.  Deadline: September 20, 2019

Horatio Alger National and State Scholarships
Type: National and State
Amount: 106 national scholarships at $25,000 each; more than 650 state scholarships up to $10,000 each.  Qualifications: Seniors with a GPA of 2.0 or higher; must be planning to pursue a Bachelor’s degree; must have critical financial need.  Must also have involvement in co-curricular and community activities.  Deadline: October 25, 2019.  Website: https://scholars.horatioalger.org/scholarships/  Must apply online.

The Census is seeking people to work for the 2020 Census and are committed to hiring people for jobs in their own communities. This is a great opportunity for senior students.  Field positions are temporary and will start this summer with different opportunities through 2020. You may work flexible hours either full, part-time or evenings and weekends. Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries.
