More than 50 Carlyle High School seniors are currently exploring future career choices

by completing their job shadowing requirements for the resource management class.

For this assignment, students are asked to find a person to shadow in a career field that is

related to the one they are looking to pursue in life.

After the job shadow experience is complete, they will write an essay about their

experience.

Students are exploring such career fields as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning,

auto mechanics, education, pharmacy, construction, and speech and occupational therapy as well

as many others.

Ethan Goodin job shadowed Steve Hoffmann at Hoffman Auto Body Shop on April 8.

“Throughout the day, I learned how to fix cars and how mechanics work, which will help

in the future with my own expenses,” said Goodin.

Dominic Newcomb job shadowed at Mideastern Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling.

“(While there) I learned how to install an air conditioning unit, which will help me in the

future if my own air conditioning unit goes out,” said Newcomb.

The job shadow experience and essay is due at the end of April. Since there are three

sections of the class and two teachers, the exact deadline varies.
