
Today’s spotlight is on Mrs. Kelly Price. She has been in education for 33 1/2 years and is currently teaching kindergarten. She loves spending time with her granddaughters and antiquing and painting. She has been married to Bernard for 36 years. She has 3 kids named Ben, Kortney, and Braden. Ben is married to Amber and have 2 kids named Brooklyn and Kate. She has lived in the Carlyle area her whole life and went to Carlyle schools.


Due to the road conditions and continued weather, Carlyle CUSD 1 will have another Snow Day tomorrow Friday Feb. 4th. All extracurricular scheduled for Friday will be rescheduled for a later date. We will see everyone back at school on Monday.


Today’s spotlight is on Mrs. Jenny Gansauer. She has been a teacher for 18years. Her 1st year as Title 1 math and now her 17th year in kindergarten. She loves to shop and go boating in the summer. Her husband Paul and her have 2 kids. Addie is 13 and Grayson is 9. She loves dogs and currently has 3. Their names are Ozzie, Moose, and Charlie.


Due do the current icy conditions and the expected weather this evening and overnight, Carlyle School District will have another snow day tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 3rd. All extracurricular events schedule for Thursday will be cancelled and rescheduled for a later date.


We shine the spotlight today on Ms. Hannah Smith-Ettleman. She is in her first year teaching and is teaching kindergarten. She loves to play volleyball, soccer, and loves to travel. Her mom and brother live in Gelena, Illinois and that is where she grew up. She currently lives in Edwardsville with her boyfriend Gaven, her cat Lady, and a 120 gallon fish tank. She loves pugs, going to concerts, and visiting zoos and aquariums!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, February 2nd will be a Snow Day for Carlyle School District. All extracurricular events, along with a Special Board meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow will be rescheduled. We hope everyone stays safe.

We shine the spotlight today on Mrs. Michelle Edwards. This is her 24th year in education. She has taught 14 years in kindergarten, 7 years in Pre-K, 2 years in 3rd grade, and 1 year at Pre-K in Patoka. She loves spending time with her family. She has lived in Carlyle since she wan5 years old. Her husband, Brian, and her live in town and have been married for 23 years. They have 2 children. Their son Drew is 19 and is attending Maryville College in St. Louis. Their daughter Meghan is 14 and is in 8th grade at CJHS. She ❤️ teaching kindergarten!!

This week’s spotlight is on our kindergarten teachers!! We have Mrs. Kelly Price, Mrs. Michelle Edwards, Ms. Hannah Ettleman, and Mrs. Jenny Gansauer. Tune in the rest of the week to learn more about each teacher.


The staff spotlight today is shone on Mrs. Ann Tucker. She has been in education for 30 years and currently teaches 2nd grade. She likes to read, swim, hike, and ride her bike. She loves to travel with her husband. Her favorite vacation spot is Hawaii and hopes to go back soon. Her and her husband, Jay, have been married for 37 years. Joel, Jessica, and Hannah are their children and they have 9 grandchildren. She will be spending time down on her farm during her retirement. Yes that’s correct, Mrs. Tucker will be retiring after this year. Maybe she will decide to actually like to hunt and fish although probably only if she can bring a book!!

Today’s spotlight is on Mrs. Angie Jansen. She as been at CGS for 24 years and currently teaches 2nd grade. She loves to read and travel when not at work. Her husband, Nathan, works at Donnewald Distributing in Greenville. Her son, Quinn, is a sophomore at the University of Alabama. (ROLL TIDE!). Her daughter, Marley, is a junior at Mater Dei High School. She grew up in Carlyle, so she is teaching where she went to school. She loves to tell her students the she went to school exactly where they are going to school. They usually think that’s pretty neat!! Once an Indian, Always an Indian!!!

The Kindergarten Classes had s great day celebrated 100th day! They brought in their 100 items, made necklaces with 100 Fruit Loops, stacked 100 solo cups, and dabbed 100 gum balls.





Today’s spotlight is on Mrs. Twyla Rutz. She has been in education for 13 years and currently teaches 2nd grade. In her down time, she loves to read, travel, and spend time with her family. She’s been married for 12 years and they have 2 daughters. Reagan is in 4th grade and Harper is in 2nd grade. They also have a son named Everett, and he’s in 1st grade. She lives in Highland with their goldendoddle, Rufus. She was born in Maine and would love to travel there again soon.

The teacher spotlight today is on Mrs. Brandi Gore. She teaches 2nd grade writing. She has been in education for 12 years. She has taught middle school math, 4 and 5 grade social studies, and 3rd grade. She loves reading, boating, and going on adventures with her family. Her and her husband just bought a house here in Carlyle. They have 3 kids. Will is 7, Abi is 12, and Baili is 16. Her sister and brother held the Guinness World Record for the world’s smallest siblings!!
